Leeds Castle Concert swing band produce video in tribute to NHS

Down for the Count swing band, who will be performing at next year’s Leeds Castle Concert, have released an “Orchestra in Lockdown” video in tribute to the NHS. It has had over 52,000 views in 48 hours since it was released on Facebook, helping to spread a positive message and raising funds for NHS Charities Together.

The organisers of the annual Leeds Castle Concert recently announced that in light of the current situation in the UK with the Coronavirus outbreak, this year’s event had been postponed to Saturday 10th July 2021. They are already planning for a spectacular event which will include ‘Down for the Count Swing Orchestra’ who will be bringing their electrifying show full of incredible energy and musicianship, amongst some other fantastic acts and this will be one not to be missed!

The video is a collaboration with City String Ensemble whose leader, Sophie Poteratchi came up with the idea alongside Down for the Count’s Musical director Mike Paul-Smith, who, said:

“We’re all in awe of what our key workers are doing at the moment, particularly our NHS staff, and we wanted to do something to show our appreciation of them. It’s so inspiring how healthcare workers carry on doing such a difficult job day after day, and we thought that the song “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” epitomises that attitude perfectly. Also, music and dance have the ability to lift people’s spirits. This is such a difficult time for everyone – including for us as musicians, unsure when we’re going to be able to play together again – so we wanted to do something positive to bring a little joy into people’s lives.”

The video can be viewed on Down for the Count’s Facebook page and YouTube channels.
