Leeds Castle voted Heritage Wedding Venue of the Year

Leeds Castle is delighted to have been awarded ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ in the Heritage category at the 2017 Kent Wedding Awards. The awards are unique to Kent and focus totally on the couples, venues, services and suppliers involved in organising weddings within the county.

Judges commented that Leeds Castle “leaves no stone unturned when it comes to customer care. A beautiful venue that offers choice, glamour, and fabulous added extras – all of which are delivered by a proactive, talented and professional team”.

Known as “the loveliest castle in the world”, Leeds Castle was up against some of the most popular historic wedding venues in Kent, but the judges were looking for the venue that really ‘goes the extra mile’ for the couple.

Hospitality Business Manager, Debbie Matthews said:

“Winning the historic venue award is an accolade we are very proud of, Leeds Castle is a magical venue for a wedding celebration. It takes more than looks to be an award winning venue, we look after the couple and their families during the months of planning and throughout the day to ensure we have exceeded their expectations and given them a day they will never forget”.

The 12th Century Leeds Castle offers a beautiful historic venue for weddings set in 500 acres of Kentish parkland. The magnificent state rooms provide the perfect setting for each stage of a perfect wedding day. Wedding couples can choose to host an exclusive Castle Island Wedding with the option to close the entire island to day visitors with access to the Maiden’s Tower and Castle from 4.30pm.

Ceremonies take place in the 1930s designed Ceremony Room adjoining the Library, ideal for Champagne drinks receptions. The daylight streaming through the beautiful long French window and soft colours of the room bring a sense of calm to the ceremony. A banquet-style wedding breakfast is served in the largest room of the Castle, the Henry VIII Banqueting Hall. The room boasts impressive views across the moat and features a grand 16th century French Caen stone fireplace.

Guests retire after dinner to the opulent Castle Drawing Rooms and continue celebrations with dancing in the Heraldry Room before staying overnight in one of the luxurious period Castle bedrooms. For larger wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations the 17th Century Fairfax Barn affords stunning views of the 12th Century Castle lit up at night.
