National Volunteers Week

The Leeds Castle Foundation was set up in 1974. As a charitable foundation, we rely entirely on our own endeavours to meet funding needs. Volunteers make a significant contribution in enabling the Foundation to deliver a first-class service to visitors, and help us preserve and develop a very important part of England’s heritage.

Since its National Volunteers Week (1st to 7th June), we want to shine a light on the incredible work which they do with high enthusiasm and love for Leeds Castle. So much so, we currently have 82 volunteers, who collectively contribute to approximately, 1,000 hours a month!

We went out and about around the estate to hear first-hand what our volunteers have to say about Leeds Castle.

Why do you volunteer at Leeds Castle?

I would often bring the children to Leeds Castle when they were younger, so have a lot of lovely family memories here. When I retired, I wanted to give back and do something rewarding with my time.

Why do you volunteer at Leeds Castle?

With the new changes to the Castle’s interpretation, I found the storylines very interesting and wanted to be a part of it. I love helping people and seeing them enjoy their experience, which in turn makes me really enjoy volunteering.

It’s a very fulfilling role, and exciting to be a part of the country’s leading attraction. It really adds a spring to my step!

From everyone at Leeds Castle, we’d like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers.

We have a lot of opportunities for volunteering in our Day Visitor Operations, Education, Events, Falconry, Golf, Grounds, Hospitality, and Retail. If you’d like to become a Leeds Castle Volunteer, please visit here: www.leeds-castle.com/Supporting+Us/Volunteering
