About THE SCULPTOR

Teresa Martin

Teresa graduated, and qualified as a sculptor + tutor, at Winchester School of Art and Brighton University. Sculpting since 1979, her practice involves the rhythmic manipulation of clay in differing states. The consistency of clay is affected by the passing of time and application can become a performance- frantic, fiddly and fatalistic. Often very complex forms are created and cast by the artist, usually with rubber moulds, to create original durable forms to survive public spaces, including some in Shoreham-by-Sea, her town of birth.

SCULPTURES EXHIBITING

Dianthus Octopus

Masters of disguise, octopuses copy the patterning of objects in their environment, sometimes to hide, but apparently for their own entertainment. Here’s one landlocked, with botanic ambitions, echoing a dianthus flower.

Marble Resin with Fibre Glass.

Edition of 20.

 PRICE: £395

Octopus Being an Urn

An alternative sort of trophy. Formed by the inky cephalopod, celebrating all writers and artists expressing freedom in ink. If you were a mimic octopus, hiding in a formal garden, what pose would you adopt to disguise yourself?

Marble Resin with Fibre Glass.

Edition of 10.

PRICE: £395
