We are seeking an experienced gardener to join our existing team, and working across the diverse range of gardens. Qualified to level 2, and with experience of working within professional gardens, the role will also include working alongside and supervising volunteers. With a 5/7 day per week rota to fulfil, our small team must work effectively and efficiently to deliver a first class gardens for our visitors at all times.
Our gardens are diverse, with intensive herbaceous borders, lawns, woodland gardens, potted displays and specialist collections. This role requires a strong general horticultural skills base, with perhaps a specialism within a certain relevant discipline. Working closely with colleagues to present the gardens to a high standard, there will also be a need to supervise the volunteer team in daily tasks. The role requires use of a range of machinery and manual equipment, and whilst training is provided, experience in these areas is beneficial, or an aptitude and willingness to train and develop.
An estate as varied as Leeds Castle means that there will also be times when the gardening team help out elsewhere on the estate, primarily with other grounds/estate care activities.
Qualifying Requirements:
- Level 2 qualification in horticulture (or equivalent experience/qualification)
- A minimum of 2 years working as a professional gardener
- Full driving license
- Other qualifications are desirable, such as chainsaw certificates, first aid at work, tractor/atv user, PA1/PA2 spray certificates, etc.
