About THE SCULPTOR

Ian Marlow

Nature and natural forms inspire Ian’s work and this gives his sculptures their universal appeal. The bold freshness in his use of stainless steel coupled with the texturing he adds to the surface creates subtle shades of light that alter as you move around the sculptures, transforming the surface from brightest silver to darkest grey. The natural fluidity in his sculptures allows them to sit comfortably into both traditional and contemporary settings. Ian Marlow is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors. He exhibits widely and is commissioned by corporate and public bodies as well as private clients

BIRD


Living in the countryside with a shady, tree-filled garden means there is an abundance of birds – often perched on the sculptures I have displayed there. It was inevitable, therefore, that I would make a sculpture of a bird. This one is stood sentinel, waiting, probably for me to fill the feeders.

LEAVES

Leaves are an endless source of inspiration. Here I have created the sculpture of a leaf form as a single upright statement. Standing tall and proud, it embodies the importance of leaves in their own right.

SURGING UPWARDS

This tall sculpture towers above the viewer. A single sweep of a stem that rises in a gentle curve. Two leaves spread out from the top and a cluster of seeds rise up to face the sky.

WHITE FLOWER CIRCLE

This sculpture is all about design and balance. The plant grows through the circle that frames it, and from it a single flower loops back down to face the earth. The circle is not part of the plant and yet it provides the perfect balance to it.
