Leeds Castle Welcomes Madam Vice President of Indonesia

We were delighted to receive a very special visit from Mudifah Kalla, the Madam Vice President of Indonesia, during this year’s Festival of Flowers, September 2018.

Not only were we pleased that the Madam Vice President chose to visit the county of Kent during her time in the United Kingdom, but we were honoured that she chose to see the beauty of the Festival of Flowers at the Castle.

Sir David Steel, CEO of Leeds Castle, spoke of the visit: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome Mrs Kalla to Leeds Castle and, we do not underestimate the honour that she bestowed on us in selecting this place to visit.”

During the visit, we were able to show Mudifah Kalla and her team around both the Castle’s extravagant floral displays and the formal gardens around the estate.

“Madam Vice President enjoyed the Castle and the garden very much,” the First Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy told us.

“It is our great pleasure to visit Leeds Castle. On behalf of Madam Vice President and her team as well as Indonesian Embassy-London, the United Kingdom, we would like to thank you for your warm welcome, hospitality and the whole organization of the visit. The visit is memorable and she carried the sweet memory home with her.”

(It’s worth noting that the Madam Vice President’s visit came prior to the very tragic tsunami event that has occurred in Indonesia since then).
