Leeds Castle News05 March 2018

Sir Roger Bannister

It is with great sadness that we learnt this week of the passing of Sir Roger Bannister, who served as a Trustee of the Leeds Castle Foundation from 1985 until 2010.

His medical background and experience meant that he was ideally suited to assist the Foundation with facilitating and organising medical conferences held at Leeds Castle that would examine and address various challenges that arose in the NHS.

During his 25 years of service, his expertise and knowledge ensured the success of the Foundation and realised Lady Baillie’s wishes that the Castle be of use to the advancement of medical science.

You can read more about Sir Roger Bannister’s time as a Trustee at Leeds Castle in his book ‘Twin Tracks: The Autobiography’.
